The Internet hates me apparently
I feel as if I’ve written that title before…
In any case, with the debut of AIM Triton I’ve been getting a hell of a lot of spam IM’s. I never used to use AIM all that much, still don’t actually, but I don’t think I’ve ever gotten any spam IM’s on any service other then ICQ (which is also owned by AOL coincedently), well maybe Yahoo if I happen into one of the chatrooms bored. Considering I don’t really use AIM regularly other then just having it up, is the bombardment of spam normal? Could it possibly be the cause of me having my AIM screen name on a few of the larger forums around? It’s getting ridiculous, I’m getting at least 120+ IM spams every 36 hours it seems, and it rarely stops; and apparently all the spam reporting I did when Trition was first in beta went by the way side. You’d think it’d be easy for AOL to actually take care of their flagship IM service and use some sort of working algorithim to stop these damn spams.
I go to sleep, there’s spam. I wake up, there’s spam. I leave, there’s spam waiting for me when I get back. IM spam is taking over my life (well not really, I just figured I’d add a little dramatic flair)!
Other then selecting all the IM’s and using the ignore button it, nothing seems to stop them from coming. At least it seems to be getting better with all the recent ignores I’ve done. I hope there isn’t a limit to the ignore list… what happens when I actually need to ignore someone? Only time will tell I guess.
