Cities Can’t Be Trusted
LA Police raided South Central Farm because the city reneged on it’s promise and sold the land to some developer. Sounds like something that would happen here in Chicago. [tags]LA, politics[/tags]

Okay. So where did you get your info from, ’cause for me this is just a “I saw this, and haven’t seen anything else about” post. So if you have something or someone else who knows more about it, I’d be glad to read it so I can be more informed.
I’d be honest if I knew more about it, at the moment I can’t really go any other way then what I’ve read.

Ok, since there is no feedback for boing boing, I guess I’ll file it here.
You will note that this is not just “some developer”, but rather the person from whom the land was initially siezed for the purpose of building an incenerator (which the NIMBYs successfully opposed) and to whom the city was obliged to resell the property back to once the original purpose for which it was siezed was no longer being persued.
The blog press on this has been uniformly unfair to this guy and his rights, and taking the side of a bunch of demanding whiners who have no rights whatsoevver to the property in question.
So do you support eminent domain for incenerators?
Or do you support eminent domain for a bunch on non-english speaking demanding immigrants?
Or do you support property rights.
Just make sure you are honest. Don’t make this “some developer” against “the poor folks”, because that is NOT what this is about.
