First thing that comes to mind when people hear the name Deftones are usually resounding cries of glee when mentioning Digital Bath, Bored, or pretty much every track that was on White Pony. This is all well warranted because those songs, and their albums just kick ass. That was until their 2003 self-titled album.
That’s right, I didn’t like it. I wanted to like it, but it was way too hard because to me it didn’t seem to be on par with any of the other ones since Around the Fur (I never really got into Adrenaline except Bored). After that I suppose I was feeling let down, especially since Sevendust’s album sucked hard at the time too. So tooling around the net, and wandering onto their Myspace page and seeing a new song ready for my ears to love, I actually wasn’t let down this time.

Hole In The Earth has everything you loved about White Pony, Chino Moreno’s vocals over heavy guitar seems to never be a bad idea. It’s one of the main reasons people still dig on P.O.D. even when they know what the message is (me included), the guys have damn good vocals — and what’s a band with crappy vocals? Murderdolls. The track has everything good you came to expect of the Deftones when White Pony was out and Change (In the House of Flies) was getting play on MTV.
