Recording Industry Admits We’re Fans

A video clip from Jay-Z’s live concert in June at Radio City Music Hall is popping up on all sorts of illicit music-sharing hotspots. But Jay-Z isn’t upset.

That’s because the rapper, at the request of Coca-Cola Co., agreed to allow distribution of the eight-minute clip — which included promotions for Coke — on the peer-to-peer sites, using technology usually used to thwart music pirates.

Look! We’re finally legitimized! Next thing you know the MPAA is going to think that people who download movies actually like movies! The world is ending, the sky is falling and Bush got a brain.

top it off, cd’s and dvd’s are the worst technology if you have kids. they ruin them in a second. nothing worse than your child handing you a movie dvd with their grimy hands all over the shiny side. All my kids dvd’s are scratched up to the max.

There probably won’t ever be satisfied with anything put forth other than complete control. Remember when they didn’t even want you to copy those cassettes?

    They’ll never be happy.

Digital rights, too complex. seems like the law is only protecting the middle man, not the artist. we used to be able to make copies of cassettes. Now the stupid law leaves me without backup copies of CDs and Movies. Hey, my kids get in that stuff and ruin it quick. there has to be a better way.
