Internet addicts have a problem 18Oct06 | 0

US internet addicts ‘as ill as alcoholics’

The US could be rife with “internet addicts” who are as clinically ill as alcoholics … The study, carried out by researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine in California, US, indicates that more than one in eight US residents show signs of “problematic internet use”.

The folks who are constantly on Facebook / Myspace / whatever-else-social-network, are sure to attest to this. I mean the sites are like crack to chicks who like to parade around in boobie showing shirts and cheek peeking shorts. It’s good times, for amateur voyeuristic porn-ish material. Not to mention the stalking capabilities!

Anyways this is old news to those of us who were around for the IRC craze and subsequent ICQ then AIM phases of the internet. Ah the good ol’ days. Remember those crappy 3D graphic’d chatrooms? Oh and The Realm? Best times ever.

You must be connected to the internet and have a valid allofmp3 login name and password to play these tracks. Not sure how it works, won’t know how it works, but it might be useful to some folks out there.

New way to enjoy baseball 22Sep06 | 0

Must Be Sittin’ In The Front Row!

rumors of a fan and his girlfriend / wife / mistress / crossdresser, while in the top level of the mostly empty RFK Stadium, uh, enjoying themselves in a way that you can’t exactly enjoy yourself in the crowded Yankee Stadium bleachers.

Rfkbjbjbjsmaller

We all know baseball is boring as all hell. But who would’ve thought someone would go this far to ease the boredom. I’m pretty sure the game alone would’ve put the guy to sleep without any help.

Well whatever, more power to ya brutha.

Mom rejects donated iPod, proceeding with lawsuit

An anonymous kind soul took it upon herself to buy Shannon Derrik a new iPod Nano, a pink case and a $50 iTunes gift card — but Melanie McCarthy, Derrik’s mother, who filed the lawsuit on her daughter’s behalf, is refusing the gift and is going ahead with the case.

Gotta love when idiots get all litigious for no other reason then being jackasses/greedy. I’m sure her daughter would’ve loved the nano, case, AND gift card. I’m figuring now the daughter is silently wishing bad things to happen to her mother. Who in their right mind would pass up an offer that good? Not I, not I.

So if anyone wants to throw a iPod Nano, a case, and a gift card my way — please by all means do it.

Deftones - Hole In The Earth (Review) 24Aug06 | 0

200Px-Deftones - B-SidesFirst thing that comes to mind when people hear the name Deftones are usually resounding cries of glee when mentioning Digital Bath, Bored, or pretty much every track that was on White Pony. This is all well warranted because those songs, and their albums just kick ass. That was until their 2003 self-titled album.
That’s right, I didn’t like it. I wanted to like it, but it was way too hard because to me it didn’t seem to be on par with any of the other ones since Around the Fur (I never really got into Adrenaline except Bored). After that I suppose I was feeling let down, especially since Sevendust’s album sucked hard at the time too. So tooling around the net, and wandering onto their Myspace page and seeing a new song ready for my ears to love, I actually wasn’t let down this time.

Hole In The Earth has everything you loved about White Pony, Chino Moreno’s vocals over heavy guitar seems to never be a bad idea. It’s one of the main reasons people still dig on P.O.D. even when they know what the message is (me included), the guys have damn good vocals — and what’s a band with crappy vocals? Murderdolls. The track has everything good you came to expect of the Deftones when White Pony was out and Change (In the House of Flies) was getting play on MTV.

Definitely check out this track. It’s on their official myspace page.

14-year-old girl sues friend over missing iPod 23Aug06 | 0

14-year-old girl sues friend over missing iPod

A spat over a missing iPod resulted in a lawsuit in Wheaton, Illinois, when 14-year-old Shannon Derrik sued her (now former) friend Stephanie Eick for losing her brand new iPod.

Now what pair of friends wouldn’t sue the hell out of each other over our pearly white overlord? Anyone else think that the whole iPod thing in life these days is a bit, Gollum-esque, people and their preeeeeeeeecious. Who’s next to sue, owners of exploding laptops? “My laptop exploded waaaaaaaaaaay sooner and louder then yours! I don’t even have a house anymore!” Too soon?

UPDATE: Because this story is so funny to me, each time I see another site post about it, I’ll link it here.

Mafia’s like to threaten people 15Jul06 | 0

Talk about a crazy story.

A yakuza gang has asked the local education board not to show schoolchildren an anti-gang video local police are producing for fear it will lead to discrimination of gangsters’ children, it was learned Saturday.

Who woulda thunk that the Japanese mafia was so out there with it with their “letter writing”. Next thing you know there’s going to be a huge mafia war between the Italian and Japanese mafia’s in Australia ala The Simpsons. I suppose jark will be keeping up with this since this is where I saw the story.

ZOE! 14Jul06 | 0

OMG ZOE’S HERE! PICS COMING LATER!

She came in at 5 lbs. 6 oz. and 18½ inches at 3:46 am this morning.

First of many… It’s grainy cuz I took it with my cell, I tried to use iPhoto to make it look better. Here’s the result.

Yahoo & MSN finally unified 13Jul06 | 0

Yahoo, Microsoft tie message knot

Users of the Yahoo and Microsoft instant messaging networks can now contact each other directly.

Welp I guess it’s finally happening. The IM’s are becoming unified, at least now I won’t have to use that eye sore Yahoo! Messenger. Not sure if either has actually released a version that works yet. I did however see Yahoo! Messenger mention it when I went to download it recently (gotta see the webcams and what not, and Adium won’t let me do that). Hopefully this merger won’t bring more spam bots to MSN.[tags]Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, MSN, Yahoo, Microsoft, messenger[/tags]

I know… I know… 09Jul06 | 0

I know I promised to be more active and what, and I guess I kinda sorta lied about that, seeing as how I made like 5 or so posts and let it drop off again.

I honestly didn’t do it on purpose, I just get busy (usually by finding new things to mess up) and don’t post. And I end up making one of these crappy uninteresting posts.

But I’ll briefly tell you what I’ve been up to.

I’ve basically been playing around with my laptop, putting it through hell and back. First by installing Vista, just because it’s about time Windows had some features I could “Ooo” and “Ahhh” about. Screw themes that make it just look pretty, I wanted to look pretty and do cool stuff. So yeah Vista delivered on that I suppose. Is it a well worth upgrade from XP? Nah not really, not if you’re looking for it to do and be better at things under the hood. But the look and feel — I dig it, some may not, and well that’s your choice in life.

Other then installing Vista (makes my laptop burn like it’s in hell, or maybe it always did that and I didn’t notice), I took the plunge to install OS X, Vista’s inspiration. Didn’t take long, considering there are guides for it everywhere, and a website/forum dedicated to getting you to the point where you have a usable “Hackintosh”. I’m up and running and it just reaffirms that I really want a MBP, or hell even a MB would be nice. But definitely something to dual boot (gotta have games).

Stability wise, it’s fine I suppose, only gripe I have is that that display won’t go into sleep mode, so that leaves the lappy working all day/night. I guess I have another gripe in that I can’t use Wi-Fi (no driver for the card I have), but other then those 2 things it’s great. Runs fast and everything. And I definitely love the software you true Mac users get (Shoebox, ecto (even those there’s one for Windows, but it’s probably not as pretty), iPhoto to name a few).

So all in all, I’ll just be bumming around Vista and OS X for awhile I suppose, especially since I made the mistake of wiping the partition that restores Dell’s to their manufacturer defaults (software and what not). But that’s a non-issue, I can always get XP back.

One thing I would like to know though is, what keys do Mac users use for Home and End!? Lil’ help here?

EDIT: Nevermind I guess, I think FF just don’t want me to use them, with Adium they work fine…[tags]OS X, Macintosh, Apple, Windows, Vista, Microsoft, bored[/tags]
