T.I. - Paper Trail Review 25Sep08 | 0
This is T.I.’s much anticipated and waited for album after T.I. v T.I.P. He’s put on several tracks such as Whatever You Like, What Up, What Haapnin’, and Swagga Like Us (best track on the album, might as well get that out of the way). Here’s my review as best as I could put it together. I’ll tell you now since I like being, or at least trying to be honest. I haven’t really liked a T.I. album straight through since Trap Muzik, and even that I didn’t listen all the way through. So let’s get into this shall we?
The album starts out with a sub-par intro track called 56 Barz and let’s just say it leaves a lot to be desired. He got back with DJ Toomp on this track and he apparently did something weird with the production where T.I. sounds like he could be someone’s 11 year old brother trying to kick his illest rhymes. Not good by any means, but is immediately saved by I’m Illy and the next two songs Ready for Whatever & On Top of the World, the latter featuring Ludacris and it turns out pretty well. That is until you hit the weird techno sampled Live Your Life with Rihanna — I don’t know what he was thinking on this, either it was “Let’s get Rihanna on a track” or “Let’s do something completely retarded real quick and get me in some of those clubs where people dress like peacocks!” but the end result is really horrible.
